Section 9 - Additional Terms and Oregon DMV Requirements
- This Bill of Sale does not replace the title. The buyer must apply for Oregon title transfer within 30 days of purchase.
- Seller must report the sale to Oregon DMV within 10 days (release of interest).
- Private-party sales in Oregon are generally not subject to sales tax; registration fees, title fees, and plate fees apply.
- If the seller's name is not on the current title, a prior bill of sale or chain of releases may be required by DMV.
- For financed vehicles, the lienholder must release interest before clear title can pass.
- Keep copies of this Bill of Sale, signed title (or copies), and odometer disclosure for your records (recommended minimum 5 years).
