Maryland requires accurate odometer disclosure on title transfer documents (Md. Code Ann. Transp. § 13-113). Federal penalties apply for false statements.
Additional Maryland-Specific Disclosures and Buyer Rights
- Maryland law prohibits odometer tampering with severe civil and criminal penalties.
- Dealers must provide the FTC Buyers Guide sticker disclosure; private sellers should still provide written condition and as-is terms.
- Buyer has no statutory cooling-off period for used vehicle purchases in Maryland after signing.
- If the vehicle is a "lemon" under Maryland's New Car Lemon Law or used vehicle warranty laws (for certain dealer sales), additional remedies may apply - consult Md. Code Ann., Com. Law or an attorney.
- Salvage, rebuilt, or flood-damaged vehicles must be disclosed; failure to disclose may constitute a violation of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act.
